- Nursing Simulation lab Specialist
Description
The Nursing Simulation Lab Specialist reports directly to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the healthcare simulation laboratories. This includes designing, implementing, and evaluating clinical simulation experiences that support curriculum objectives for the nursing program. The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty and staff to provide realistic and innovative learning environments that enhance student skills, critical thinking, and clinical judgment.
Daily Operations: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the simulation room, including maintenance, inventory, and readiness of equipment and supplies.
Faculty Collaboration: Collaborates with faculty to design, plan, and implement simulations, ensuring alignment with course objectives and program outcomes.
Scheduling: Manages schedules for simulations and lab sessions across nursing levels, ensuring equitable access for all students.
Set-Up and Take-Down: Oversees or delegates the setup and cleanup of simulation exercises, managing materials to ensure readiness and organization.
Safety Protocols: Enforces adherence to safety standards to protect students, staff, and equipment.
Equipment Maintenance and Procurement: Monitors and maintains simulation equipment; recommends new equipment purchases as required.
Liaison with Manufacturers: Communicates with vendors for repairs, updates, and technological upgrades.
Organization and Inventory Management: Manages the storage, upkeep, and inventory of lab and simulation materials, ensuring resources are available and properly maintained.
Perform a variety of other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Nursing.
Two years of clinical and simulation lab experience.
Familiarity with simulation software, manikin operation, and A/V systems.
Strong organizational and technical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or similar credential.
Prior teaching or instructional experience.
Experience using Laerdal, Gaumard, or other simulation platforms.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Flexible hours including occasional evenings/weekends may be required.
Work may involve standing, walking, and equipment handling in lab settings.
