Veterinary Technician Assistant - SurgeryFull-time: 4 day, 10 hour shift or 5 day, 8 hour shift with possible on-call
Round Rock, Texas
Heart of Texas is looking for a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and setting up the operating room for surgeries
- Clean and disinfect surgical suites before and after procedures
- Sterilize surgical instruments using an autoclave
- Assist the veterinarian during surgeries by handing off tools and supplies as needed
- Maintain a sterile field and support surgical asepsis standards
- Perform surgery room turnover between cases efficiently and thoroughly
- Handle and restrain animals when necessary (pre- or post-surgery)
- Monitor and replenish surgical supplies as needed
- Follow all clinic protocols and safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in veterinary medicine, animal handling, or a similar clinical support role is required
- Experience with surgical prep or scrub tech duties is a plus
- Comfortable working in a surgical environment, including handling instruments and assisting during procedures
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for long periods during the shift
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, sterile work environment
- Team player with strong communication and multitasking skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional veterinary or technical training is a plus
